Pickup Lines is the tool you reach for when you have a new match and haven't sent the first message yet. Drop in context, pick a style, generate three openers tuned to the situation.
The six styles
Each style chip changes the underlying prompt and produces a meaningfully different opener:
- Witty — wordplay, callbacks, light irony. Best when her bio has clear humor cues.
- Smooth — confident, low-effort, slightly flirty. Best on Bumble and Hinge where the bar is higher.
- Bold — direct, asks for attention, no hedging. Best when she's clearly comfortable with directness (her bio uses "tell me," "convince me," etc.).
- Sincere — earnest, no jokes, asks a real question. Best when her bio is detailed and personal.
- Curious — opens with genuine interest, very low pressure. Best when you genuinely want to learn about her.
- Playful — small tease, low-stakes challenge, easy to reply to. The default if you're unsure — works in most contexts.
When to use each
| Situation | Style | |---|---| | Her bio is one line + emoji | Playful or Witty | | Her bio is detailed and earnest | Sincere or Curious | | She has clear "tell me" / "convince me" prompts | Bold | | She seems older / more selective | Smooth or Sincere | | You're matching on Hinge prompts | Curious or Witty | | You're on Tinder and want speed | Playful or Bold |
When in doubt, Playful lands in the most situations.
The tone slider
The slider runs from 0 (low confidence / casual) to 1 (high confidence / direct). It modifies the same opener style — a "Bold" opener at 0.3 reads as quietly confident, the same opener at 0.9 reads as very confident.
Most users land between 0.4 and 0.6. Push higher only if you've matched with someone who clearly responds to directness.
"Why it lands" reasoning
Every generated opener comes with a one-line explanation of the psychology behind it. Read these. They're how you learn to write your own openers without the tool over time.
Example:
"Lands because: it references the specific Lisbon photo (proves you read the profile) and asks for a recommendation (gives her low-stakes opportunity to be useful, which most people enjoy)."
If you understand why something works, you can adapt it for the next match without burning a generation.
Regenerate behavior
Hitting Regenerate gives you three new openers in the same style and tone. The model knows which ones it just gave you and won't repeat them.
If you want a different style, switch the chip and hit Generate (not Regenerate) — that's a fresh context window.
Standard counts each generation against your 50/day cap. Platinum is unlimited.
